The Curious Heart Meditation Series (March 28 - May 6, 2022) ENDED
Series runs March 28 - May 6, 2022
“When I open my eyes to the outer world I feel myself as a drop in the sea; but when I close my eyes and look within, I see the whole universe as a bubble raised in the ocean of my heart.” - Hazrat Inayat Khan
This 6-week series introduces and deepens a heart-based meditative practice.
No prior experience in meditation is required.
While the breath is often a focus of meditation, the heart's beat offers its own riches. If allow it, we can let curiosity draw us into our heart’s depths.
Being the first organ to form during embryonic development, the heart serves a unique function at the physiological core of our being. It also holds the role of the felt seat of many emotions.
Current world conditions bump, bruise, trigger, even break our hearts. However, we rarely learn to care for, regulate, relax, and expand that domain of feeling we call our hearts.
Drawing upon our curiosity, contemporary science, and the traditions and practices of ancient Greeks, Yoga, Buddhism, Sufism, and Taoism, we'll develop our meditative capacity by delving into the physical and subtle recesses of the heart.
Through focusing on the heart, we will cultivate states of relaxation, resilience, and healing while exploring topics such as:
The physiology of the heart
Heartbeat as the object of attention
Tools of self-regulation
The emotional heart
The subtle heart
