Meditation and the Heart ENDED (July)
Series runs July 6-26, 2020
This 3-week series is intended to introduce and deepen heart-based meditative practice.
No prior experience in meditation required.
While the breath’s rhythm is often a focus of meditation, the beat of the heart offers its own riches.
Being the first organ to form during embryonic development, the heart serves a unique function at the physiological core of our being. It also holds the role as the felt seat of many emotions.
Current world conditions bump, bruise, trigger, even break our hearts. However, rarely are we taught how to care for, regulate, relax, and expand that domain of feeling we call our hearts.
Drawing upon contemporary science and the traditions and practices of ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Yoga, Buddhism, Sufism, and more, we’ll develop our meditative capacity by delving into the physical and subtle recesses of the heart.
We will learn meditation to cultivate states of clarity and relaxation while exploring topics such as:
The physiology of the heart
Heartbeat as the object of attention
Tools of self-regulation
The feeling heart
The subtle heart
